THE Junior Closed Championships were hosted by Wiltshire Squash.
Eighty-eight children from across the county took part, forming the largest field of competitors ever assembled.
The tournament kicked off at Marlborough College on Saturday with the girls' under-13s category.
Chafyn Grove's Tamsin Morgan narrowly overcame Sophie Bolland (St John’s, Marlborough) in the group matches before clinching an epic semi-final against school friend Millie Reeve but losing the final to favourite Phoebe Marshman.
In the boys' group, Salisbury number one seed Ben Howgrave-Graham, of Chafyn Grove, defeated Marlborough’s Crofton Keyes 2-0.
The game of the day was in the third and four place play-off which saw a titanic battle between Salisbury’s Nathan Elliott, of Bishop Wordsworth’s, and Ollie Brunton, of Chafyn Grove. Nathan eventually came through 14-12 in the decider.
