SALISBURY FC are looking for an opposition to replace Shaftesbury Town in a friendly tomorrow night.

The Dorset Premier League outfit called off the friendly due to pitch concerns at Cockrams.

Manager Steve Claridge said: "Matches are coming thick and fast now."

"We could soon be playing twice a week with all the various competitions we are still in.

"We need to make sure that everyone in the squad is match fit and ready to take the opportunities they are bound to be getting as the games come at us.

"The recent friendly against Chichester City worked well for us and we are looking for a similar sort of run-out."

Claridge is challenging his players to replicate their "brilliant" showing at Team Solent when AFC St Austell visit in the second round of the FA Vase on Saturday, 3pm.

Claridge had set off with director of football Micky Jenkins to watch St Austell in their South West Peninsula League game at Exeter University on Saturday only to turn back when news of the postponement filtered through.

He's wary of how tough it will be and what St Austell, league champions who reached the semi-finals of the Vase last season, offer.

"Our attitude needs to be right from the start, and we need to carry it on for the whole 90 minutes like we did at Solent," added Claridge. "If we don't, we will get punished.

"But I have faith and confidence in this group. I am excited about what they can do."
