RETURNING Jamie White fired a brace on his full debut as Salisbury FC booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup at the expense of Amesbury Town with a 4-2 victory.

The striker, who returned to his old stomping ground from Gosport Borough last week, got his first of the night after Danny Finnigan had given the Blues, from Division One, the lead.

Finnigan struck again before centre-half Steve Walker restored parity four minutes before the break.

White then completed his double in the 51st minute to put Whites ahead for the first time of the tie.

And Walker made sure of the third round victory nine minutes from time to see the hosts into the last eight, in which they will travel to Team Solent on Monday, February 29 (7.45pm).

  • Whites are back in league action on Saturday when they travel to Blackfield and Langley in a top-of-the-table showdown (3pm).

Quarter-final draw:

Newport (IOW) v Sholing

Romsey Town/Totton & Eling v Brockenhurst

Moneyfields/Portland United v Bemerton Heath Harlequins

Team Solent v Salisbury
