LAVERSTOCK Ladies came from behind to beat Swindon Spitfires 6-2 and book a place in the semi-final of the Mid Wilts league cup.
Swindon took an early lead when, in the tenth minute, they slotted the ball home. But Laverstock, who are playing in their first season, remained cool and Kelly Button levelled the score just five minutes later.
Button struck again after 21 minutes before first-half substitute Rachel Lang slotted the ball past the Spitfires’ keeper, with her first touch, giving Lavvy a 3-1 lead at the break.
The second half saw Lavvy keeper Emily Yates save a penalty before Burton completed her hat-trick. Amy Sanger and Lang with her second rounded off the scoring for Laverstock. Swindon added a late goal but the damage was done.
Manager Karen Musselwhite said: “I’m proud of how the ladies are working together as a team and enjoying their first season together.”
