FARLEY were brought back down to earth with a lacklustre display at home to IBM Hursley in County Division 4 West.

Having inserted the visitors, Farley’s attack was unable to sustain any pressure with a combination of too many loose deliveries and some spilled chances.

Rob Pfeifer was the main beneficiary, making 84 before he was bowled by the returning Dan Jackson. However, from 140-1 Farley pulled things back, dismissing Hursley for 250 in the final over. Lewis Wakeford was the pick of the attack with 3-25.

Farley’s response began steadily, with Mike Covill and Simon Wakeford taking the score to 40 before Covill feathered one to the keeper.

But things then fell away inexplicably, with only Andy Coveney of the middle order making it to double figures. Ted Glanvill fought hard at the end, and with the score on 97-9, Shameel Naqvi lofted for a straight six to grab a batting point. But he fell for 32 leaving Farley 112 all out.

It was a similarly chastening afternoon for Farley’s second team, who made the long trip to Lytchett with just nine men. Lytchett took full advantage, racking up 243-7 before dismissing the visitors for 61.
