IT was a clean sweep at the weekend for Redlynch & Hale Cricket Club as all three sides won their matches.

Ian Tanner's men were at home to Steeple Langford for their Hampshire County Division 3 North (N) match.

The skipper led the way, carrying his bat for an unbeaten 100 as everyone chipped in with useful runs down the order.

Inconsistent work in the field, however, added a bonus of 42 extras, allowing the hosts to post 248-7. All the visiting attack suffered, but Luke Stephens returned 2-37 from his 10 overs.

In response, Langford were soon in trouble as Dave Webber (2-20) and Ben Brown (1-17) made early inroads. Then two wickets apiece from Nathan Pollard (2-23), James Taylor (2-10) and Tom Emm (2-6) put paid to any serious challenge. Only Gary Smith (25) showed any form as Kev Hopkins (1-19) took the other wicket, with the visitors scuttled for just 95 as Redlynch were victorious by 153 runs.

In a far closer game in Regional Division 2 West, the clubs' second strings went head-to-head.

A solid 48 from A. Hughes helped Steeple Langford advance to 172 all out, with Sam Hatton (3-41) and leg spinner Will Hewlett (10-3-38-1) the pick of the attack.

In reply, the visitors were in trouble early doors with Dhanti (4-43) and Kumar (2-20) doing serious damage.

Then a splendid 72 from Andy Soutar, proved to be the bedrock of the innings. Despite D. Harvey returning 3-34, the tail held on to clinch the points with a one-wicket victory.

Meanwhile, the thirds reduced Ampfield & N. Baddesley to 129 all out with Simon Smith (4-8) and Ian Dixon (3-21) the main protagonists.

Youngsters George Hayes and Jack Sobucinski bowled very well for little reward at the top of the innings. In reply, Smith (45) and namesake, Graham Smith (54*) shared an opening stand of 110 to ensure maximum points.

The first team also won the National Village Knock Out competition at Lacock on Sunday.

They now face a trip to Goatacre in the next round in two weeks' time.
