SOUTH Wilts Under-13s comprehensively beat Chippenham in their latest WYCL match.

Skipper Ed Wade led the way with his second century in as many weeks. He barely played a false shot as he hit 15 boundaries and two maximums in his 102 before retiring. The rapid scoring rate was buoyed by an aggressive 63 from Benji Tucker which included 11 fours. Ben Higton (24) and Roly Glover (29no) helped to post a formidable 308-5 off their 35 overs.

Chippenham's hopes of a record-breaking chase were quickly blown away by a devastating opening burst by Nat Burke who took 4 quick wickets to put the hosts firmly on the back foot. However, the home side responded in terrific fashion with Jack Rumble smashing a blistering 55. Aided by Josh Barrow (34), Chippenham blazed past 100 in just 13 overs.

They continued to attack and, aided by some uncharacteristically poor South Wilts fielding, reached 175 before being bowled out in the 30th over.

Ben Higton picked up three for 35, while Wade completed his fine day with 2 for 24, but Nat Burke's 4-11 was the pick of the attack.

South Wilts Under-11s, meanwhile, hosted East Devon 10s. With eight players away on county duty a number of under-9s boosted the side made up mostly of under-10s. South Wilts bowled first and Cam Young (4 for 8) was quickly among the wickets, ably supported by Finn White (2 for 12) and Kit Blomfield (2 for 18). East Devon posted a decent 153 all out.

With the loss of two quick wickets,Cam Young (51 retired) and Sam Reeve (50 retired) established a match-winning partnership with Max Woodroffe (16) also contributing. The target was chased down in 30 overs and, so with three games and three wins under their belt, the under-11s' squad is looking to be a strong unit.
