WINTERBOURNE recorded back-to-back wins in County Division 4 West after a convincing eight-wicket win at Ampfield and North Baddesley.

Having won the toss and put the opposition into bat, Ampfield's had an early reprieve when Hatcher was dropped at slip off the bowling of Jonathan Candler.

He would go on to make Winterbourne pay as he continued to bat through to the 42nd over.

Chris Breeze finally made the first breakthrough in the 12th over as he bowled Williams for 5. Dadd replaced Candler and as has often been the case this season, the leggie helped turned the game as he took three wickets in his ten over spell. Helped by a wicket at the other end from captain Hughes, Ampfield were now 85-5 off 31 overs. But with a bowler short Hughes had to juggle the remaining bowlers and Ampfield took advantage of this as they upped the rate and put on 54 quick runs for the 6th wicket in less than 9 overs. Vardyanathan was eventually bowled by the returning Breeze for 24 and then Leon Marcelle cleaned up the tail, taking 3 for 28, including Hatcher for 78. Ten-man Ampfield were all out for 136.

As usual, Winterbourne started their reply at a healthy four to five runs an over, batting with apparent ease until Craig Johnson was adjudged LBW for 11 in the seventh over.

Jamie Harvey pushed Winterbourne towards their target, scoring 40 runs before being bowled in the 15th over with the score on 69. New signing Charlie Everett then hit a quick fire 44 not out in just eight overs. Along with Matt Windows (31*), the pair took Winterbourne past their target inside 25 overs, to give them maximum points and move them up to 11th in the standings.
