A BULLISH Steeple Langford travelled to Compton and Ford, where they crashed to a 30-run loss in County Division 3 North.

None of Compton's batsmen looked comfortable as Steeple's bowlers excelled, with the stand-out performers being Luke Stephens (3 for 36), Nick Partridge (2 for 22) and Tom Bennett (2 for 32).

In reply, Steeple Langford lost a customary early wicket but Martin Grearson and Adam McNeilly (13) steadied things with a stand of 36 before Grearson was trapped in front by a shooter for a dominating 37 out of the score of 45. The middle order then collapsed, losing four wickets for only nine runs.

Gary Smith (18) and Andy Bennett (16) then looked comfortable putting on 37 for the seventh wicket before both fell in quick succession, hitting poor balls straight to fielders for simple catches. The rest of the innings then folded and the last four wickets fell for eight runs to leave Steeple Langford on a pitiful 118 all out.

The seconds also tasted defeat in their Regional Division 2 West encounter with Bashley, going down by nine wickets.
