FARLEY slumped to a disappointing defeat at home to Ampfield and North Baddesley.

The visitors started slowly against some accurate bowling, and it was the fifth over before there was a run off the bat. But Farley couldn't find a breakthrough, spilling the only chances offered. A run out removed Garvey in the 19th over, but Ben Hatcher and Jim Khan continued steadily, with Hatcher the dominant partner. Phil Owen claimed two late scalps but Hatcher completed his ton in the final over of the innings to see Ampfield close on 168-3.

Farley's response was the exact opposite: runs were scored more quickly but wickets kept tumbling. Ted Glanvill's 31 was the top score as Farley finished 149 all out with 10 overs left.

That defeat sees them slip to 11th in County Division 4 West.

Adam Thompson's 64 was the highlight of Farley's second team match at Fawley. With just nine players, Farley were always struggling to compete and ended up losing by seven wickets.
