A TENNIS coach challenged himself to spend a mammoth 17 hours on court in a fundraising drive for new floodlights.
Salisbury Tennis Club's Lee Mahoney stepped onto court on Tuesday at 5am - when 12,000 revellers were at Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice - and finished at 10pm.
During the marathon shift, club members paid to play for one set against the head coach, knowing a win would secure a new racquet.
But Mahoney's experience paid off as he triumphed in all 34 sets.
In total, £800 was raised which will go towards new floodlights on two courts.
Committee member Liz Crossley said: "The decision to install floodlights on two more courts was as a result of intense court demand especially in the winter months and the newly lit courts will enable the coaching team in particular to offer more lessons especially to the large junior section."
New members (adults and juniors) are welcome.
