ADAM Kelly has spoken of his disappointment after failing to agree new deal at Salisbury FC.

The midfielder joined from Weymouth in February to help Whites wrap up the league title.

In that time, he played 14 times and scored twice.

Kelly's return marked the start of a second spell at Ray Mac, in which he told JournalSport he wanted to create more long-lasting memories.

But now that won't be possible after exiting Whites, who start their pre-season campaign a week Saturday at home to Bristol Rovers (1pm).

He released the following statement on Twitter: "Unfortunately, I've been unable to strike a deal with Steve Claridge to remain at the Ray Mac for next season.

"I'd like to thank all the players and staff for making me feel so welcome during my short return. I genuinely feel honoured to be part of the club's inaugural season, and play a small part in helping the team win the league during their first season.

"Good luck to all involved with the club for next season and beyond, disappointed I won't be part of the journey."

Kelly, who is head of academy sports science at Exeter City FC, made 77 appearances and netted 14 times for the old club, Salisbury City, in a two-year spell.

He also had spells with Winchester City, Bashley, Truro City and Tiverton Town.
