A BUMPER 600 horses and riders will take centre stage this weekend at the popular Whitehead Vizard Wilton Horse Trials.

The two-day event, in its 40th year, has scores of categories from novice to intermediate at Wilton House.

International riders including Mary and Emily King, Laura Collett, Dani Evans, Andrew Nicholson (New Zealand) and Manuel Heleno (Spain) are set to appear.

Organiser Anthony Ffooks said: "Wilton Horse Trials is a true family day out, there are excellent views and viewing and dogs are welcome, with the usual welfare provisos in hot weather."

"We would like to acknowledge the amazing local support from businesses and volunteers of which there are over 150 for each day, without whose help the horse trials would not be possible. Particular mention should be made of Whitehead Vizard, Solicitors of Salisbury, who are the title sponsors for the 10th year and whose particular support during some difficult years has proved priceless."

On Saturday, dressage starts at 8.15 am, show jumping at 9.15am and cross country at 10am and continues until around 6pm.
