SALISBURY are battling to keep ace goalkeeper Charlie Searle.

The 20-year-old re-signed for a second loan spell at Whites just three weeks ago but now parent club Havant and Waterlooville have today announced that Searle is back at Westleigh Park.

The club's official account said on Twitter: "@Hawks_FC announce that goalkeeper Charlie Searle has finished his loan spell at Salisbury and returns to the Hawks squad."

Searle has told JournalSport that Hawks, who will kick-start their league campaign in Ryman Isthmian Premier Division after being relegated from National South, didn't want him to represent Whites in either the FA Cup or Trophy so he doesn't get cup tied.

However, Whites boss Steve Claridge is eager for his first-choice keeper to sign a permanent deal at the Ray Mac which would allow him to play in both competitions.

"The gaffer [Steve] wants me to sign," Searle said.

"Havant didn't want me to play in the Cup or Trophy for Salisbury but I want the best of both worlds.

"My options are to either stay at Havant or permanently move to Salisbury."

Searle - still undecided on his future - says he's training with Havant tonight and hopes the situation is quickly sorted.

And if Whites lose Searle - a week before they start life in Evo-Stick Southern League Division One South and West - it would leave them with just one keeper in Nathan Ball.

A club spokesman from Whites said: "We have no comment to make at this time except to say that we are working currently to resolve an issue involving the player and the two clubs."

Elsewhere, winger Danny Young and defender Callum Hart face lengthy spells on the sidelines following their respective injuries.

Young was was forced to leave the field with a recurrence of a dislocated shoulder against Yeovil Town on Tuesday and will now have an MRI scan ahead of making a decision about having an operation.

Hart, meanwhile, has decided to go ahead with an operation to sort out his own problem with repeated shoulder dislocations and is booked in for surgery in September. Hart's recovery means he is unlikely to play again before the turn of the year.

WHITES continue their pre-season programme tonight at Laverstock and Ford (7.45pm).
