Hampshire League – other regional divisions

JAMES Brown must have been feeling good after his century set up Burley 2nds’ unexpected two-wicket victory when they entertained Bashley (Rydal) 4ths in Regional Division 3 West.

The visitors started with an opening stand of 105 between Marcus Lewis (84) and Max Clark (30) and after Will Syms (29) was out, wickets tumbled to Mark Beck (5-38) as Bashley posted 225-7.

Burley 2nds had an even better start to their reply as openers Pete Stacey and James Brown put on 131 for their first wicket before Stacey was out for 60 that included 12 fours.

Another wicket fell soon afterwards and then Brown shared in a third-wicket stand of 48 with Stuart Pateman (16).

At 214-3 victory looked certain but after Brown was out for 116, including 21 fours, wickets fell in quick succession to Daniel Hart (4-29) and it was only Jim Burry (10 no) who got them over the line in 38 overs.

Leaders Hyde 2nds were surprising beaten when they entertained Brockenhurst 2nds, losing by eight wickets but they have a healthy lead and still should take the title.

Verwood 2nds were shot out for 97, Drayton taking 4-10, and Sway 3rds won by four wickets.

In Regional Division 2 West, Alderholt managed a miserable 69 as Haynes claimed 4-9 for Christchurch who cruised home by nine wickets. Ringwood were without a match as Regional Division 2 West has one team short.
