Hampshire League – Regional Division 1 West

DAMERHAM were far too strong for struggling Hyde winning by 107 runs and all-round performances from Ben Bealey and Henry Gilbert have probably sealed the visitors’ fate as they languish near to the foot of the table.

An opening stand of 42 between Simon White (20) and Hacon Edgley (31) got Damerham off to a solid start and the momentum was continued by Bealey (83) and Gilbert (58) who put on 122 for the third wicket with a brisk unbeaten 27 from Simon O’Donnell taking them to a challenging 238-4.

Hyde were never in the hunt despite a stubborn 46 from Pete Hayward as Gilbert (3-32) and Bealey (3-13) held them in check. Will Alvis (17) and Mike Shutler (25 no) prevented Damerham from claiming maximum points as Hyde held out at 131-9.

Godshill’s skipper and opener Alan Cousins retained his form with a half-century and he provided the perfect support for Tim Beer as the pair shared in a third wicket stand of 116 as the home side beat Sway 2nds by 59 runs.

Jason Cooper smashed six fours in his 26 and Chris Houghton made 29 but it was Cousins (58) and Beer (77) who ensured that Godshill reached 237-8.

Despite good knocks from Adam Church (72) and George Lewis (40 no) Sway were dismissed for 178 in the 42nd over with Cooper (3-27) and Jon Bayliss (2-37) leading the attack.

Breamore came up against division leaders Bournemouth 4ths at The Marsh and the visitors hurried to an eight-wicket victory having dismissed the Forest side for 159 in the 42nd over.

Only Steve Marlow (31), Simon Dorrington (40) and James Fuller (20) made any real progress in the Breamore innings and then Sean Theunissen (86) and Harry Weal (53 no) swept Bournemouth home in just 26 overs.
