BEMERTON Heath Harlequins continued their excellent start to Sydenhams Wessex Premier with double victories.

Goals from Scott Joyce and Jack Slade secured a 2-1 home win over Cowes Sports on Saturday.

That was backed up with a 1-0 win at Andover Town on Tuesday night.

The results bodes well for Saturday's FA Cup preliminary round clash with league rivals Amesbury Town at Bonnymead Park. The two met last year in the extra preliminary round in which Harlequins ran out 2-1 winners.

Jim Macey's Blues have encountered a mixed bag of results over the past four days.

A Joshua Stockwell goal proved the difference on Saturday when they hosted Lymington Town but then crashed to a 4-0 home defeat on Tuesday at home to Brockenhurst. Mark Barker netted a hat-trick and Mitchell-Carlton scored in the rout.

Macey said: "Missed chances cost us but on the night we were beaten by a decent side."
