BOSS Graham Kemp says his charges are relishing the prospect of locking horns with Basingstoke Town in the FA Cup because "it gets boring playing the same teams".

Bemerton Heath Harlequins booked their place in the first qualifying round after a comfortable 3-1 win at Wessex League rivals Amesbury Town.

Two goals from Jack Slade and Jake Rawkins in ten first half minutes set Heath on their way in the preliminary round tie at Bonnymead Park.

Jon Blake added a third shortly after the resumption to create clear daylight between both sides.

Cameron Roach pulled one back with ten minutes left but that was as good as it got for the Blues.

"I felt we were in control for large periods of the game and, really at three nil, we should have scored a couple more. We switched off for their goal which inevitably caused a scary 10 minutes but I never felt we were going to let the games slip away."

His opposite number, Jim Macey, who has lost central defender Adam Pearson to AFC Totton, said: "Overall, Bemerton deserved the win and I wish Kempy [Graham Kemp] all the best against Basingstoke - a great tie."

Bemerton take on the Southern Premier League outfit at The Ark Cancer Charity Stadium on Saturday, September 3 (3pm).

Town are two leagues above Bemerton but Kemp says they have nothing to fear.

"Basingstoke away is a great tie for us. The lads like to play different sides as it gets boring playing the same teams in the cups and the league," he added.

"It's a good chance to test ourselves against higher opposition."
