MIDFIELDER Sam Roberts believes underdogs Salisbury have enough quality to "do a job" on Gloucester City in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday (3pm).

Whites host the National North high riders in the second qualifying round of the competition in what is expected to be a packed Ray Mac.

Boss Steve Claridge went to watch the opposition last week at Tamworth, in which Gloucester went down 3-1.

But, since that defeat, The Tigers have sealed back-to-back league wins, scooting into sixth in the table.

"It's a massive game," beamed Roberts, who scored a rocket in Salisbury's 4-4 draw with Bideford AFC.

"Hopefully I will start. I feel like I'm playing well but don't know if I'm 100 per cent fit yet.

"In pre-season, I went on holiday for two weeks which killed it a little bit so I didn't get as much gametime as the other lads.

"I feel strong, and hopefully the gaffer picks me for Saturday.

"Hopefully there will be a few people watching. It's good opposition as well so it will be a tough game and very tight in the middle. I'm looking forward to it.

We've got some good players.

"As a team, we need to be a bit more solid at the back as there were a few mistakes out there on Saturday. Walks' [Steve Walker] first half was a bit rash.

"With the right formation and players, we'll do a job."

Roberts, 21, who came through the youth ranks, is often targeted by teammates in the player profile section of the The Whites matchday programme.

His name often appears next to who has the worst haircut and the worst dress sense.

"I'm an easy target aren't I," he joked.

"I think my fashion sense is decent to be fair. Skinny jeans and I don't mind a shirt.

"Walks gives it all the time but he's a big lad so I can't really put it on him too much but I don't mind it, it's fun and games. I'm all for banter - I don't care."

The winner of the tie will advance to the third qualifying round, which takes place on Saturday, October 1, and bank £4,500 in prize money.
