IT was a busy weekend for Salisbury Tri Club members who were scattered across the country in various events.

Kevin Richards completed his first Olympic Distance race, the Huntsman triathlon, coming 24th overall and 10th in category, crossing the line in two hours and 33 minutes. Ruth Thom took part in the same event, situated on the Royal Engineers training ground at Hawley Lake, Hampshire. She completed the 1500m open water swim, 40k bike and 10k trail run in 2.49, the fifth fastest woman to complete the race.

Joff Croom made the most of his improved swim and succeeded in completing the technical bike route, to finish in 1.35 at the Petersfield triathlon. Croom covered distances of 400m swim, 29k bike ride and 5k run in this sprint distance event.

Dave Fleet and Matthew Spooner took part in the New Forest Middle distance triathlon. This well-supported half-iron event starts with a 1.9k swim in Ellingham lake, followed by a 90k bike through the New Forest, ending with a half marathon. Fleet came home in 6.38 and fifth in category, while Spooner finished in 5.31, 50th overall and eighth in category.

Rich Hamilton came first in category in the Brigg Sprint Triathlon in North Lincolnshire. Taking on a 400m swim, 20k cycle ride and 5k run, he placed sixth overall on the fast and flat course with a finish time of one hour.

Andy Fallon raced the Gauntlet triathlon at Hever Castle. With a 1.9k open water swim, a hilly 90k bike route and 21k run, Fallon completed the half iron distance event in 6.47.
