TWO points proved the difference as Ellingham and Ringwood tumbled to a 12-10 defeat when hosting Fareham Heathens in Snows Hampshire One.

Es played some attractive rugby in the first half at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground on Saturday, opening up a 10-3 lead at the break. Full back, Chris Frost, scored two good tries.

Fareham came back strongly in the second half, as Ellingham conceded 31 penalties as opposed to Fareham's one.

Subsequently, the visitors kicked three second half penalties, the last being the final kick of the game and Ellingham had to be content with a losing bonus point rather than four points for a win.

The thirds, meanwhile, racked up a 20-16 victory over Andover Veterans in a friendly.

Andover started strongly with two penalties and a try to build up an 11-0 lead, but tries from Ben Traynor and Rob Ford reduced the deficit to 10-11 at the break.

Scrum half Aaron Barker kicked a penalty early in the second half to give Ellingham a 13-11 lead, but an Andover try put them back in front, 16-13. With time running out, centre Brad Evans scored a good try under the posts, which was converted by Aaron Barker to complete a 20-16 victory.
