SALISBURY's miserable form on the road continued after slumping to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Slimbridge in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West.

All three goals arrived in a five-minute spell in the second half.

Jack Twyman put the hosts ahead before Olly Mehew equalised.

But immediately from kick off the Gloucestershire hosts restored their advantage courtesy of a Lee Smith strike, which proved to be the winner.

Swans made a strong start with Twyman heading just wide after three minutes.

At the other end, Justin Bennett proved a real handful, rattling the woodwork and narrowly missing the target.

Then, Mehew had a good effort deflected for a corner and Smith had two efforts resulting in comfortable saves for visiting 'keeper Alex Bass.

The second half started with a bang - the Slims substitute Marley Thomas making an instant impact. His work on the wing helped Twyman get a sight on goal and his shot gave Bass no chance.

Whites replied straight from kick off as Mehew punished the hosts for a sudden dip in concentration.

But minutes later the home side were back in front as Smith latched onto a through ball, beat the offside trap and slid home.

Salisbury continued to press. Lewis Benson, Tommy Wright, Steve Walker, who hit the bar, and Elliot Wheeler all went close but they couldn't rescue a point as they endured a fourth away defeat.

The result sees them drop two places in the league to eighth.

They look for a change in fortunes away from home tomorrow night with the visit to Oxfordshire where they take on North Leigh (7.45pm).
