OLYMPIC weightlifter Sonny Webster paid a visit to a top fitness facility in Salisbury.

Webster, 22, was working with participants from Stonehenge CrossFit, assisting them with their weightlifting techniques.

He also hosted a Q and A and performed a lifting demonstration, hitting a 148kg snatch – the same weight he managed in South America, and an easy 170kg clean and jerk.

It was his first time at the Harnham facility though he already has plans to return. He and Stonehenge CrossFit co-owner Tris Dixon trained together each week for several months at the start of the year and Webster, who came 14th in Rio 2016 Olympics for Team GB, revealed he is targeting gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia before possibly setting his sights at the Tokyo Olympics of 2020.

Dixon said: β€œIt was fantastic to have Sonny down for the day. He is an inspiration to both CrossFitters and weightlifters around the world and is a hot property on the back of the Olympics."
