SALISBURY'S league clash with Paulton Rovers has been abandoned due to poor visibility.

The Evo-Stik Southern League Division South and West encounter was goalless when it was halted after 30 minutes, with fog filling the Winterfield Road stadium.

Referee Stephen Oakey had initially stopped the game for a 15-minute break, hoping the weather would improve, but the conditions worsened.

Tommy Wright came closest to finding the net when meeting a cross which he poked wide.

Among the travelling fans was supporter Liam Brown, who runs the Salisbury Supporters' Club Twitter account.

He told JournalSport: "From the start, it seemed to be in doubt, but leading up to kick off it did start to clear.

"It was looking like it was slowly getting better, but suddenly the fog truly descended, and that's when the referee called the players off.

"As we left, it does seem like the right decision, as visibility was just getting worse and worse.

"It is annoying that we'll have to make the trip again, as it means another matchday added to the busy fixture list.

"But it's very good of Paulton Rovers to have announced that the replay will be free admission. A very good gesture on their part."

The new date agreed is Tuesday, December 20.

Whites, still looking for their first away win since August, are back in action on Saturday when they host Chippenham Town in the first qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy (3pm).
