RESILIENT Ellingham and Ringwood Seconds came from behind to record a 45-38 bonus point win at Salisbury in Dorset and Wilts 2 South.

Wing three quarter Matt Moore scored Ellingham’s first try, before their captain and scrum half Aaron Barker added a try of his own together with two penalties and two conversions. But Salisbury still led 28-20 at the break.

In the second half, the Ellingham full back Chris Frost scored two tries. Matt Moore added his second try and Aaron Barker kicked a further two penalties and two conversions. Salisbury could only manage a converted try and a penalty, so Ellingham were able to claim what, after 20 minutes in, looked an unlikely victory.

Ellingham & Ringwood’s thirds put in a brave performance against a New Milton side that had been bolstered as a result of their seconds' game being cancelled.

Ellingham competed well in the first half, scoring tries through their two centre’s Ben Carey and Will Searle. Wing three quarter Mike Leigh added a further try and scrum half Lee Swyer kicked a conversion to leave Ellingham trailing 19-17 at the break.

The second half was a completely different affair, with the strong New Milton replacements making a real impact.

Ellingham stuck to their task, with Ben Carey scoring a further try and adding the conversion. This gave Ellingham a try bonus point, but New Milton comfortably completed a 43-24 victory.
