IN a week’s time, the Journal will be recognising and congratulating the finalists and winners at the Sports Awards.

Excitement is building for the event at the Ray Mac on November 4.

And the finalists have been chosen.

The top three for each award are: Senior Team of the Year: Amesbury Town, South Wilts Cricket Club and Salisbury RFC.

Community Club of the Year: South Wilts Cricket Club, City of Salisbury Athletics and Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Disability Sports Personality of the Year: Warren Clark.

Outstanding Service to Sport in South Wiltshire: Nell Walker, Chris Garvey and Dave Amey.

Outstanding Progression in a Sport: Brodie Trayhorn, Liam Thornhill and Jaymee Domoney.

Football Player of the Year: Charlie Aldridge, Shaun Prentice and Eddie Perrett.

Rugby Player of the Year: Cadan Murley, Rob Larcombe and Richard West.

Coach of the Year: Lee Duckett, Dave Amey and Karen Musselwhite.

Country Sports: Lucy Butt, Ian Peierce and Roger Hunt.

Cricket Player of the Year: Will Wade, Rich Cridge and James Hayward.

Hockey Player of the Year: Nick Easterbrook, Alana Mercer and Miranda MacTaggart.

Athlete and Swimmer of the Year: Aaron Wilson, Jaymee Domoney and Natalie Thomas.

Some of the chosen athletes will be nominated for Sports Personality, Male Sports Personality and Female Sports Personality.

“When we re-launched the Salisbury Journal Sports Awards we had no idea about the amount of support we would receive,” said Journal editor and publisher Bill Browne.

“Now, as the big day beckons, I can only say how delighted I am to see how warmly it has been welcomed.

"It has been heartening to read about the efforts so many people have made.”
