UNDERDOGS Laverstock and Ford Ladies stunned higher-league Chippenham Town with a 3-2 victory in the quarter-final of Wiltshire FA Women's Cup.

Hat-trick hero Leanne Griffiths-lower struck a late winner after Lavvy were twice pegged back to eventually book their place in the semi-final.

Griffiths-lower opened the scoring with a stunning effort that sailed into the top corner on 20 minutes.

The visitors responded seven minutes later before Griffiths-lower struck again

to restore Lavvy's lead.

After the restart, Chippenham hit back again but Lavvy could sense a winner.

And it arrived on 70 minutes when Rachel Adkin's effort was parried and the rebound fell to Griffith-lower who was lurking on the edge of the area.

Boss Karen Musselwhite said: "I'm so proud of my ladies, they really rose to the occasion and played some of the best football this season.

"Chippenham won our league last season and moved up to South West Women's Football League and were favourites to win the cup."

Joining Lavvy in the last four draw is Swindon Spitfires Women, who beat Melksham 6-5.

The remaining quarter final ties between Swindon Supermarine and The Market Lavington and Trowbridge Town and FC Calne take place on Sunday.
