SUPPORTERS have vowed to give Steve Walker a big send-off tomorrow when Whites entertain Shortwood United in the league (3pm).

The well-loved defender announced earlier today he is leaving the Ray Mac due to a lack of first team starts.

Walker, 26, spoke of his frustration after sitting on the bench in four of Whites' last six league games.

He says he chatted with boss Steve Claridge after Whites' 5-0 hammering of Bishops Cleeve midweek, and it was decided he would go elsewhere to find regular football.

To mark the end of Walker's 18-month spell at Salisbury, fans say they will be making a real noise for him in tomorrow's game.

Fans have posted the following messages on the Salisbury FC Supporters' page on Facebook:

Peter Morgan said: "As been said before, let's make some noise for Steve with five mins on the clock to show our appreciation for all he has done."

Mel Kelly: "What a massive error this is. Steve is the lions heart in this squad and there is no other player who fills that role. He deserved better."

Dave Todd: "Played a huge part in pulling everyone together in the new club after the fractious and bitter way the old club ended. Best of luck to him."

Liam Burnell: "It's a shame to see such a huge character go, but I can see why he would choose to leave for more game time. Was a huge part of a successful side last season, but players move on. Best of luck to him in the future."

Julie Martin: "I hope the board are reading this and that they realise what a mistake they are making. Steve Walker is irreplaceable. #sortitoutbeforeitstoolate

Adam Bradley: "Huge mistake Claridge......HUGE fans are not happy at all."

Jon Houghton: "Can't understand why he doesn't play every week, let's face it we aren't exactly blessed with plenty of defenders, now Brooks is gonna be a long term absentee. Big HUGE! Mistake to let him leave. Top player that can get the team motivated and pop up with vital goals. Good luck Walks."

Gary Sarum: "We really need a guy with his passion and commitment . He has never given less than 110%."

Mark Auger: "Huge character and top person was a massive part of winning the Wessex league just a shame things haven't worked out this season. Good luck walks."
