THE cold weather took its toll on Saturday's non-league football programme.

Due to temperatures of -4°C, there were frozen pitches across the south.

One of the first games to fall foul of the weather was Salisbury's Southern League Division One South and West showdown against bottom-of-the-table Bridgwater Town.

The Whites travel to Shortwood tomorrow in round three of the Southern League Cup, which is subject to a pitch inspection. It's the third attempt to get the game on following double postponements due to a waterlogged pitch at Meadowbank.

In the Sydenhams Wessex Premier, Bemerton Heath Harlequins missed out on their home clash with rock-bottom Verwood Town. As did Amesbury Town who were travelling to Lymington Town.

Only three games managed to play in that division.

All matches were wiped out in Division One. Title-chasing Laverstock and Ford were looking to keep the pressure on leaders Hamble Club but their game was called off at the Dell against Alton.

Downton were saved a trip to Fleet Spurs.

There's two Wessex games scheduled for tomorrow night, one of which involves Bemerton Heath Harlequins at home to Bashley in the third round of the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup (7.45pm).

The winner will host either Alresford Town or Shaftesbury in the quarter-finals.
