A REFRESHED Laverstock and Ford put their January blues firmly behind them with a well-deserved 2-1 victory away at Totton & Eling.

After three successive defeats and not having tasted victory since December, Lavvy came roaring out the blocks.

Tom Munday’s drive was parried into the direction of Russ Jones who fired his first goal in three months with seven minutes on the clock.

Totton restored parity 11 minutes later after Kaine Stanton finished off a swift counter-attacking move.

Lavvy came close to restoring their lead when Graham Mankin smashed home but it was ruled out.

Moments later, the towering centre half was bundled over in the box and a penalty was awarded, but the resulting spot kick from Adam Bourner was fired wide. After the break, Laverstock were rewarded for their dominance.

Archie Lovegrove picked out James Clifton who played in Russ Jones and he provided a slick finish.

Co-managers Liam McConnell and Robbie Lakeman said: “That was a relief. The lads have had a long break, in fact it’s been a long time since our last win.” but the way these lads went into the game was fantastic, you can see how much they want to achieve. They deserved that result.”

Lavvy remain in third place, three points behind Baffins Milton Rovers and 13 adrift of leaders Hamble Club."

They host Andover New Street on Saturday (3pm).
