ELLINGHAM & Ringwood secured a vitally-important 45-19 home bonus point win against Farnborough on Saturday at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground in Snows Hampshire One.

Farnborough took the lead with a penalty try that was then converted.

The Ellingham flank forward Sam Panton then crashed over and centre Josh Butcher levelled the scores with the conversion.

The visitors then scored a converted try from an interception to regain the lead, but a try from the Ellingham scrum half Dave Jones and a try and further conversion from Josh Butcher gave Ellingham a 19-14 lead at the break.

Ellingham were able to dominate the second half with two tries from centre Dominic Pitt (pictured). Butcher converted both tries and also kicked four penalties and Farnborough were only able to reply with one unconverted try.

Ellingham & Ringwood were knocked out of the quarter final of the RFU Junior Vase at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground on Sunday by last year’s champions Windsor, losing 24-12.

Windsor opened the scoring with a converted try after 20 minutes, but the Ellingham captain Ellis Collins then scored a good try that was converted by full back Chloe Barrett to level the scores. This was closely followed by a bizarre incident that resulted in the Ellingham centre Kourtney Driscoll and wing three quarter Charlotte Smith clashing heads and both leaving the pitch with concussion. From the restart Windsor scored a converted try to make the score 14-7 at the break.

Windsor dominated the start of the first half scoring two tries to open up a 24-7 lead. Ellingham stuck to their task and were rewarded with a further try from prop forward Ruth Miles to close the gap to 24-12.

However, time was against them and it was Windsor who went through to the semi-final.
