AMBITIOUS Taurean Roberts admits he’s back at Salisbury to help with their promotion push, but is still dreaming of starring in the top flight one day.

The exciting winger returned to his old stomping ground for a second spell last month.

After leaving in the summer, the 26-year-old went on trial at League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers and played against Brentford.

He was unable to pen a deal so moved back to his local club Tooting and Mitcham United, who are top of the Isthmian League Division One South, where he spent the best part of six months.

Things were going smoothly, until Roberts fell out with boss Frank Wilson.

“The manager said he couldn’t work with me and stuff so I said okay, and left,” Roberts explained.

“I’ve been to Tooting three times, it’s a good club.

“I initially left as I wanted to go pro. I went to Wycombe Wanderers and that didn’t really work out and then I didn’t really have anything, I just went to a local club in my area.”

Michail Antonio is someone Roberts looks at for inspiration, as the winger started his promising career at Tooting and has gone on to play in the Premier League for West Ham United.

Talking of the Hammers’ star, Roberts said: “I look at him and think that could be me. He’s my age because I’m 26, so yeah.

“I’m still trying to make it into the Football League.”

In the meantime, Roberts is focusing on helping Whites gain back-to-back promotions having been involved in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier title win last season as well as the club’s FA Vase success.

Since his return, he’s netted three times.

“It’s good to be back,” he added.

“We want to maintain the position in the play-offs, as we are hoping to go up again. I’m just happy to help out.”
