AMESBURY Town fought their way past Eversley and California 4-0 to earn a Preliminary round tie at AFC Portchester.

Second half goals from Luke Greenway, Harry Beckley and a brace from Kieran Stephens earned a comfortable scoreline for the home side.

Amesbury created plenty of chances in the first half but failed to find the back of the net, with efforts from Stephens and Beckley saved by the keeper.

Eversley came out well in the second half and enjoyed a spell of possession, their best chance being a corner which Creese has to punch out from under the bar.

Amesbury weathered the early storm and took the lead on 53 minutes when a Stephens corner was flicked onto the bar and Luke Greenway headed home.

The second goal came on 65 minutes, a long ball by Creese was helped on by Stephens to Beckley inside the area who calmly slotted home.

On 76 minutes Lusty was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the box when trying to clear and Kieran Stephens punished the error by burying the free kick into the bottom corner for 3-0.

Four minutes later it was 4-0 when Jennings free kick found Stephens on his own inside the area and he had an easy task to slot home.

Amesbury still looked for more goals and Craig Wheeler should have done better with a header in front of goal which went wide after a good cross by Jake Watson. Eversley almost got a consolation in added time but Scott Ransom’s turn and shot produced a smart save by Creese.
