BEMERTON Heath Harlequins went in to the game against Bashley without the majority of the squad, so debuts were handed to Tom Farwell, Sam Matthews and Cameron Hough, and George Plank started for the first time this season in a back three.

Bashley started the brighter as the change in shape for Bemerton took a while for the players to get used to.

Harlequins slowly started to grow in the game and get control of it. Jones went through one on one but his shot was comfortably saved by the home keeper.

The second half started fairly even with both teams creating chances. Bemerton took the lead in the 56th minute when a fine run through the heart of the home defence by Elliot Cross ended in him finishing well, to make the score 1-0.

Bemerton defended well and it looked like they would hold on for their first three points, but in the third minute of injury time Bashley equalised with the last kick of the game.

Manager Rae Hughes spoke after the game and told JournalSport: “Unfortunately today feels like a defeat, to drop two points with the last kick of the game is hard to take.

“We were poor first half, some of it understandable as a change of shape and half a different side again took a while to get used to. Second half was much improved. We just take the positives and move on.

“We are on the board now and with players returning this week, hopefully we will pick up the first win very soon.”
