SWINDON Town’s Scott Twine has joined National League South side Chippenham Town on a three-month loan deal.

The youngster had been reported to have moved to Salisbury City on a one-month deal earlier this week, but Town boss David Flitcroft revealed that despite the Whites’ announcement the switch had not been completed and the 18 year old will now link up with Mark Collier at Hardenhuish Park.

Twine signed a professional contract at the County Ground at the end of last season follow an impressive campaign with the U18s, where he scored 30 goals.

Town boss David Flitcroft has been busy over the summer, recruiting four strikers, meaning Twine would have to compete with Keshi Anderson, Paul Mullin, Kaiyne Woolery, Harry Smith and Luke Norris.

Flitcroft also says he thinks Twine will only benefit from a spell away from the club as he looks to develop Town’s younger professionals.

“Scott is a player that will score goals for our football club in the future, I have no doubt about that,” said Flitcroft.

“His physical work wasn’t where he wants it to be and where I want it to be up to this point so this will give him a great physicality and a great learning and understanding.

“It’s quite a robust league, the level we are thinking of sending him, and when he comes out the other side of it, I think it’ll be a fantastic loan spell for him.

“With having no real U23s and no real games programme, it’s been difficult to get games into all the young players.

Twiney is one that will certainly benefit from having a robust loan spell at a lower level club.”

Twine, who made his debut away at Charlton Athletic on the final day of the season last year, featured for Swindon through their pre-season programme, and got himself on the scoresheet against his new side in a 3-2 win.

The teenager will go straight into Chippenham’s squad for their fixture away to Dartford, but will be ineligible for their FA Cup ties.
