SALISBURY Women FC have started the season in excellent form with two wins from the first two games and scoring seven goals in the process.

Following an emphatic 10-0 win against Gillingham Town Ladies in a pre-season friendly, Salisbury were raring to get the season underway.

The women started the season with a 3-0 victory over Swindon Supermarine, with all three goals coming from Zoe Ridley.

Salisbury controlled the game from start to finish, having most of the play and constantly causing problems for the Swindon goalkeeper and her defence.

Having scored her hat-trick, Ridley was then sent off after receiving two yellow cards. Despite going down to ten players, Salisbury again controlled the game from midfield and the defence stood strong to keep the score at 3-0 with a much needed three points on the board.

Salisbury’s second game was against Warminster Sky Blues and won 4-2.

This was Salisbury’s first home game of the season, and it was another great performance from Salisbury’s Ridley, who grabbed all four goals.

The Whites started well and hit some good shots early on, but the Warminster keeper was equal to them.

They took the lead on 25 minutes through Ridley which was soon doubled to 2-0.

In the second half Salisbury had chances through Sophie Taylor, Baylie Kelly and Elisha Taylor, but it was Ridley again who found the back of the net to make it three.

Warminster did pull a goal back, but with five minutes remaining the three goal cushion was restored as Ridley scored her fourth, the teams fourth of the game.

The west Wiltshire side scored again late on but the game was already won by the Whites.

Salisbury Women’s next game is at home on Sunday, September 17 against Swindon Spitfires FC United/Dev.
