BEMERTON Heath Harlequins will be looking to kick-off 2018 on a winning note when they entertain AFC Portchester on Saturday.

They are currently 13th in the Wessex League Premier Division table, while this weekend's visitors are five places above the home side.

Last Saturday, Bemerton's trip to Fareham was postponed.

However, the previous weekend, Bemerton were in action and drew 0-0 with visiting Portland, who are just above them in the standings.

After the game, Bemerton manager Rae Hughes said: “We were without experienced players Jack Slade and Robbie Matthews plus a couple of others so a good point against a very organised side.

"We had some good chances to win the match. Young goalkeeper Lewis Gunstone-Gray had a great game as well.

"At the half way point of the season I am very pleased with where we are considering the start to the season we had. I am working hard to strengthen in a few areas and then hopefully we will continue to move up the table and finish the season strongly.”
