SALISBURY Rugby Club finished their season with a well attended Players’ Dinner.

Director of Rugby, Richard Lloyd, emphasised the amount of talent that the club produces and highlighted the fact that despite many injuries and non availabilities, Salisbury always managed to field four sides and that the A XV had won the Dorset and Wilts 3rd XV Cup.

Lloyd thanked retiring lead coach Neil Loader for his two years of unstinting effort and the level of expertise he had been able to impart to the players.

He was also pleased to announce that Forwards Coach, Michael “Taff” Bamsey would be remaining as part of a restructured coaching team for next season.

The senior awards were given out to Player of the Year, Dan Hammond, and Players’ Player of the Year, Dave Tonge.

The Alex Edwards’ Trophy for Best Young Player was awarded to Serge Griffiths, and Reman Gurung was voted Most Improved Player.

Last Sunday Salisbury Rugby Club rang down the curtain on a long season in glorious sunshine with the traditional Joe Osmond Memorial Match between the current Colts (17-18 year-old) side and a number of the club's former Colts, including several members of the club's successful first team.

The match is played annually in honour of the late Joe Osmond, who was tragically killed 21 years ago.

Joe worked tirelessly to support the Colts over many years and the game is played in the open spirit which Joe

encouraged, with uncontested scrums and no kicking.

Salisbury RFC chairman Richard Larcombe thanked the players and supporters, saying that the Colts are the most important team in the club and that their successful season and enthusiastic performance in this game are excellent

omens for the future.
