A WILTSHIRE side with five South Wilts stars gave reigning Minor County champions Berkshire a fright at Corsham, before losing by 75 runs in a three-day contest.

Berkshire won the toss and chose to bat and scored 296 as Waqar Hussein 53 and Stewart Davison 63 top scored, while Tahir Afridi 3-50 and Ed Young 3-63 did best with the ball.

By close of the first day Wiltshire were 87-2 wickets.

The second day saw the visitors bowled out for 266 in 59 overs, as Afridi scored 77 off 66 balls supported by Neil Clark (55). Mungo Russell took 5-81 and Chris Peploe 3-62.

Berkshire 's second innings saw them all out for 163, as South Wilts pair Luke Evans 4 -51 and Ryan Murray 4-47 did the damage.

This meant Wiltshire had 24 overs and the whole of the third day to score 194 to win and were 40-3 at the close.

The third day saw Wiltshire all out for 118.

Only three players made into double figures and all were from South Wilts, Jack Mynott (39 not out), Will Wade (32) and Tom Morton (14) .

Former Middlesex spinner Peploe took 5-18 off 19 overs.

Wiltshire are next in action in another three day game at St Austell July 22-24 against Cornwall.
