SALISBURY FC turned on an excellent show as they beat visiting AFC Bournemouth 1-0 on Tuesday night at the Ray Mac.

The wining goal in the contest came in the seventh minute from Lewis Benson after he was found by George Barker.

In previous years, the Whites would have then conceded, but their defence is made of sterner stuff this season and they now have recorded back-to-back clean sheets after a 3-0 win over visiting FA Vase winners Thatcham Town last Saturday.

Pablo Haysham and a Chris Shephard penalty made it 2-0 at the break.

Luke Hopper added the third after the interval again from the spot.

The only negative to come from Tuesday night’s win was an injury to to summer signing Marcus Beauchamp and so also injured Charlie Searle had to take over in goal.

Salisbury manager Steve Claridge said: “This pre-season continues to excite me with each game and I am really pleased at the way the players are playing at the moment."

Salisbury’s build-up to the new season continues tomorrow night (7.45pm) they entertain Bognor Regis, before a trip to Christchurch on Monday (7.45pm).

Their pre-season concludes on Friday, August 4, when a Bristol Rovers XI make the trip to the Ray Mac.
