THE Stonehenge Stomp is an annual walking and running event, organised by the City of Salisbury Athletics and Running Club, every January.

Participants choose to cover 10km, 20km, 30km or 40km of off-road trails around Stonehenge.

This was a test of personal endurance as participants pushed themselves to their physical limits.

This year’s event was run on an exceptionally warm, dry and sunny winter’s day, which did not detract from the incredible effort required by all those taking part.

Everyone was full of praise for the wonderful day that was due, in no small part, to the event organiser Jane Knight and her team.

Meanwhile, The Arc of Attrition is a 50-mile race along the Cornish Coast Path from Minack Theatre to Porthtowan.

On a wet and windy day James Mills completed this mammoth task over arduous terrain in 10hrs 48mins and covered 9,000 feet of elevation, to beat his previous PB by 26 mins.

Mills came a very creditable 16th out of more than 100 finishers.

Two races were run at Longleat on a cold, crisp morning bathed in winter sunshine.

In the 10K CoSARC were represented by Kieran McManus 47:08 and Lucy Coates 59:52.

In the two-mile CoSARC junior Emily Bryant ran a very good race in a time of 15:39, and was rewarded with fourth place, and second female finisher.

The Maverick New Forest Race in Brockenhurst was run over 12km of forest trails. Pete Bott gave a magnificent performance when he finished in 58:07. He was 49th out of field of 272.
