South Wilts are eyeing a second place finish in the ECB Southern Premier League.

They will play their final match at relegation haunted Alton on Saturday (12.30) trailing the top two by 10 points.

But with the lead pair, Burridge and defending champions St Cross Symondians almost level on points and going head-on in a 'winner take all' showdown for the championship, South Wilts will take the runners-up spot, if they win at the Jubilee Ground.

But they can expect a tough afternoon as Alton have just got in the Premier League t20 cup final and are fighting for their lives down the bottom of the table.

They need to beat South Wilts if they are to stay up.

It looked bleak for South Wilts when they plunged to 36-5 responding to Havant's modest 168 all out at Bemerton.

They were put in a terrible spin by Havant left-armer Chris Morgan, whose 4-31 return contained four of the South Wilts top five.

Apart from Ben Walker (1-25), Havant were bereft of seam options, leaving the South Wilts middle-order to combat a four-pronged spin attack.

South Wilts prevailed, with Peter Rowe's first fifty of the season leading a recovery that saw the Bemerton team pull off a remarkable four-wicket win.

Rowe hit 55 not out, thriving in separate stands with teenagers Archie Fairfax-Ross (38) - a match switching 75 or the sixth wicket - and later Matt Falconer, who was unbeaten with 36 as Havant's total was passed with eight overs to spare.

Havant's innings had taken a similar route.

They were 77-6 (George Metzger 30) but rallied with youngsters Harrison Barnard (29) and Matty Hayward (29 not out) to the fore after offie Tom Lewis had taken 3-26 and been involved in a run-out..

South Wilts seconds match at Bashley (Rydal) II was washed out.
