SALISBURY City were back in pre-season training today, with the majority of last season's squad.

Only four players - Kayne McLaggon, Ben Joyce, Jason Silver and Ryan Pryce - have been released.

Player-manager Darrell Clarke said: "We wish all those players the best of luck in their careers and thank them for their efforts on our behalf for last season."

He added: “I’m delighted that the players are back in for the first day of pre-season training.

“The boys have had fitness programmes to adhere to over the summer up until now, and they’re looking like they’re in great shape.

“This will be one of the hardest pre-seasons that we’ll have, but the lads are in great spirits and looking forward to the Bristol Rovers home game on Monday.”

Fans can expect to see some trialists in the forthcoming friendlies.

“We’ve had 12 trialists here today who I’m having a look at, including Tom Evans (Swindon last season), Josh Searle (Exeter last season), Ethan Phillips (Exeter last season), and a few more with a good background," said Clarke.

“We’ll be evaluating them over the new couple of weeks. We’re still looking to bring two or three players in to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle and make sure we’re ready for the coming season."
