REDLYNCH & Woodfalls United won a thrilling eight-goal Lord Bledisloe Cup final against Alderbury at Bemerton last Thursday.

Man-of-the-match Simon Dickenson gave the Bournemouth League side the lead after just ten minutes, then Alderbury equalised through Joe Bishop five minutes later.

Ben Read's great strike got Redlynch back in front just past the half-hour mark, and Ryan Cox put them 3-1 ahead three minutes before the break. Mark Scott pulled one back with a minute of the half remaining though.

Leo Inhala levelled for Alderbury in the 59th minute, but Dickenson headed his second on 79 minutes. Read then made it 5-3.

Alderbury's cup woes continued when they lost the Premier Cup final 6-0 to Durrington Dynamos at Salisbury City on Monday night.

It was their third game in five days and it showed. They went 2-0 down on the stroke of half time and were taken apart on the break in the second half. They had also lost the Morrison Cup final.

Alderbury manager Simon Sharpe said: “It has been a disappointing end to the season after being undefeated in 24 of the previous 25 league and cup games.

“Seven hard games in a three-week period just proved too much for us in the end. Maybe when we look back in a few days time, three cup finals and third position in the league won’t seem such a bad return.

“It’s just a shame that the team just had too much to do during the run-in.”

Stockton & Codford lifted the Wilts Junior Cup with a 2-1 extra time win over Trowbridge side The Lamb at Melksham Town on Saturday.

In Division Two, Chalke Valley geared up for Thursday's WC Stokes Cup final against Redlynch reserves at Bemerton with a 2-2 draw with Burgess Trees.

Dan Smith gave Valley the lead with a 21st-minute penalty, but Alex Fulford equalised ten minutes later, and Nick Batt put Trees ahead on 61 minutes. Aaron Burley's cool finish rescued a point 12 minutes from time, but their opponents have sealed the title.
