SALISBURY City ended their pre-season friendlies with a 2-1 home win over a youthful Portsmouth on Saturday.

Stuart Sinclair hit a thunderous strike on 40 minutes and Chris McPhee's clever flick put the Whites 2-0 up three minutes later.

Jack Compton pulled a goal back from the spot with nine minutes to go.

Salisbury's Blue Square Bet South campaign begins at home to AFC Hornchurch next Saturday, August 18 (3pm).
