CITY of Salisbury’s Stuart Holloway rediscovered some speed in his legs despite a bitterly cold wind at the undulating Longleat 10k where a challenging mountain has to be tackled twice.

He never seriously threatened in-form Toby Lambert of Winchester AC but still took third place, three minutes down at 35min 39sec.

Nicki Yevko was the next Salisbury finisher, just making it into the thousand strong field’s top 50 places with 43.25 and she was closely followed by Sarah Kemp in 44.10 and Kathryn Dreyer 62.58.

The club’s youngest competitor on the day, Alice Olliff- Lee, took an excellent first place in the two-mile event with a time of 17.30.

On the punishing hills of the Ryde 10mile league road race, veteran Mike Brewster showed he is truly back to good form with a fine subhour, top ten run of 59.39.

Then came Jon Rich with 65.36 and Rithy Hy 67.02.

Three Salisbury athletes competed in the university cross country championships on a snowy 6k Brighton course. Alex Mundell took 59th place, Emma Clarke 321st and Freya Espir 402nd.
