CITY of Salisbury track athletes laid down a marker at the Wiltshire County Championships after bagging 23 gold medals to finish second out of 10 clubs.

Dazzling displays in Tidworth led to The team took 58 medals in Tidworth as they finished second behind eventual winners Swindon Harriers.

Molly Hole set the tone for a rewarding day, won golds three county titles in her under-13 age group’s javelin – with a new championship record 28.06m – as well as the 100m and shot put. Rose Warren in the same age grouptook silver in the 800m and sliced six seconds off her best.

In the under-15s, Skye Allen took gold in the 200m and in the 100m where she too set a new championship record of 12.99sec. Abigail Burn took silver in the 1500m and Morgan Ringwood claimed silvers set a pb in the long jump and for silver, before taking another silver in the high jump.

Among the under-17s, Harriet Legg took silver in the high jump and bronze in the long jump, and Sophie Scarr took silver in the triple. In the seniors, Bea Fordham took a gold in the 200m andfollowed by a silver in the 400m.

Ethan Ness won the under-15s hammer with 19.12m, and Nathan Burn then set a new club mark for gold with 18.84m in the discus. Greg Herring won the 800m, and Jack Kelly won the shot.

Josh Hole in the under-15s took bronze in 200m, silver in the 300m and gold in the shot, while Joseph Feest claimed gold in the high jump and a silver in the hurdles.

Outstanding performance In the under-17s came from Josh Shuter who trimmed ten seconds off his previous best to took gold in the 1500m. More gold went to Callum MacTaggart in the 400m and Thomas Hughes in the javelin.

Ben Brewster narrowly missed out on a medal in the 800m but then won silver in the 1500m. Dependable Richard Holt netted two more golds in the long jump and triple jump, plus a silver in the relay and a bronze at 100m.

Disability athlete Sebastien Varennes won gold in the discus and the shot. There were golds also for Hamish Mundell in the pole vault, Kieran Stephens in the javelin and discus, veteran Alan Munro in the hammer and Jack Paget in the shot.
