FOVANT Cricket Club maintained an unbeaten start to their Dorset League season with victory away at Portland Red Triangle on Sunday.
Batting first, the home side started well with 64 runs coming from the first 10 overs. Fovant’s bowlers seemed to be suffering from the long journey but this ended when opener Christian Brown (29) slashed a rare full toss from Jack Richards straight to Rob Pittman at cover.
The visitors’ bowlers managed to get more of a stranglehold on the Portland batsmen, with only Simon Proffitt (55) offering significant resistance. Tom Pearce finished with figures of 3- 23 and Jack Richards 2-34.
Reaching their target of 173 with 7 overs to spare, Fovant’s batsmen all formed partnerships.
Matthew Boatwright (39) led the way with 37 not out and 32 from Rob Pittman and Tom Pearce.
