WITH heavy downpours in the lead up to the game, Dinton’s seconds home match with Broughton went ahead.

The hosts won the toss and skipper Richard Cridge took the first wicket in the third over.

But afterwards, Dinton struggled to keep Broughton’s scoring in check.

Chris Crayston (75) and Ross Richards (40) added 83 for the fourth wicket and it wasn’t until the introduction of Simon Rawlins that wickets started to fall as he took a quick five, with the visitors slipping from 3-140 to 8-165. Rawlins ended with 5-52.

But number 11 John Jenner had other ideas if Dinton thought they could keep Broughton under 200, as he smashed a quick-fire 40 to take his team to 220 when he was dismissed by the returning Cridge who finished with 2-7 from six overs.

In reply, Dinton never got going as Broughton showed them how to bowl on a green pitch and lost wickets at an alarming rated.

The highest partnership of the innings was for the final one as Rich Pearce with Martin Stennings (16) added 31 taking the score to 84 before Pearce was the final man out for a brave 25. Broughton skipper Joe Lydeard bagged the best bowling figures of 3-9 from six overs.

Winterslow 196-9 (B Spence 78 R Pearce 4/39(hat-trick)), Dinton IX 197-6 (B Coombes 72*).
