SHREWTON won a low scoring game in Winchester against St. Cross Symondians III to continue their early season form, which has seen them win all three matches and lead the Hampshire League, County Division 1 table.

In a game reduced to 35 overs per side, the hosts were restricted to just 111, Stu Cruse picking up 4-24.

Shrewton were 90 for no loss before losing the wickets of Will Sleeman, pictured, (48) and Rich Barnett (36) in quick succession.

Despite losing their middle order cheaply, the Shrews knocked off the remaining runs with 4 wickets in hand to maintain their winning start to the season, young Will Harries hitting the winning boundary. The second XI got their first win of the season under the belts with victory at home to Herriad.

Mark Gurd and Mike Barton made half centuries in Shrewton’s 198, before the visitors were restricted to 148, Darren Bentley taking 4- 41.The third XI made it a clean sweep for Shrewton, bowling Cadnam III out for 62 to win by 135 runs.
